Is Fellaini The Most Hairbrained Newcastle Transfer Rumour So Far?
After already being linked with a couple of other [intlink id=”44606″ type=”post”]Manchester United cast-offs [/intlink]this weekend, the latest Newcastle transfer rumour involves Marouane Fellaini.
The 26 year old crashed out of the World Cup on Saturday with the rest of the Belgium team, after seemingly spending most of his time trying to elbow the opposition in his World Cup campaign.
The near £30m signing made only 12 Premier League starts for the Reds last season and scored zero goals as they faded to seventh.
Marouane Fellaini personifies David Moyes’ disastrous time at Man Utd and it is little wonder that reports abound that new man Louis Van Gaal and his bosses want the midfielder out of the club.
The Newcastle link appears to have probably started with the Mail and fees from around £12m-£15m have been speculated, but it would appear impossible that Mike Ashley would fund either that kind of transfer fee and/or the sky high wages Fellaini will be on.
Yet again though the possibility of a loan deal could be possible as it might be far too big an ask for Manchester United to get any kind of credible amount of money back on the midfielder at the minute, with a big ‘damaged goods’ label plastered all over him.
A season of rehabilitation out on loan could very likely be the way forward, though I have big doubts as to whether there is any chance of that being at Newcastle.
