Emmanuel Riviere Leads Attacking Starting 11 v Sheffield Wednesday
Alan Pardew has announced a starting line-up v Sheffield Wednesday that features a mixture of youth and experience, with Emmanuel Riviere spearheading an attacking looking team.
Press reports earlier today made clear that some senior players had accompanied the younger players that Pardew had spoken of.
“Having just got back from New Zealand, some of the lads need a bit of a rest so tomorrow will be a chance for some of the younger lads in the squad.
“We will be looking for a result like the two we got on the tour and a good performance as well, hopefully some of the lads can perform well and give us something to think about.”
Fans can pay on the gate at tonight’s match at Hillsborough, kick-off is at 7.45pm.
Newcastle United: Elliot, Satka, Mapou, Dummett, Haidara, Tiote, Abeid, Obertan, Armstrong, Perez, Riviere
Fans will be interested to see how a front three of Riviere, Perez and Armstrong fare against second tier opposition.
Good old Squidward returns, while Abeid and Tiote are entrusted with holding things together in the centre of the park.
A rare chance for Mapou to take up his proper position but a bit of responsibility with such an inexperienced defence around him.
Subs: Alnwick, Streete, Bigirimana, Anita, Vuckic, Campbell, Quinn, Gilliead
