Newcastle’s new signing Daryl Janmaat has talked about his childhood friend and said all the usual correct things about the football club and fans etc.
The [intlink id=”45012″ type=”post”]replacement for Mathieu Debuchy[/intlink] has also said that he thinks it is vital for a modern full-back to be able to get forward and contribute as well.
However, Janmaat has also revealed that he won’t be meeting up with his new teammates until August 1st in Germany, before the two matches at the Schalke tournament.
This is what Daryl Janmaat had to say in his first televised interview for NUFC TV;
“The World Cup was a fantastic experience, we did a great job with third place and I am happy to be here at Newcastle.
“I spoke to Tim Krul a few times about the club and I knew him from Den Haag, we were born in the same city and he’s also my friend.
“We were at Den Haag together until he left for Newcastle at the age of fifteen, he’s an English boy now, he has lived here for nine years and has an English wife.
“Newcastle is a fantastic club with a big history, the stadium is also fantastic and I like how the fans are.
“This is the perfect step for me.
“I like to attack as well as defend and I think this is one of the things you need now, when playing at the back.
“I’m enjoying my vacation and then I am looking forward to being with the team, when i join them on 1st August in Germany.”
