Why Are The Club Ignoring The Existence Of The New Newcastle Home Shirt? – Photo Special

The strange tale of the new Newcastle home shirt continues.

Leaked images of the new Newcastle United strip started circulating some weeks ago and more recently reports, with images, began to appear of the shirt appearing to be on sale at various locations outside the UK.

The official release of the home strip is reported to be scheduled for August 14, the Thursday before the season kicks off.

Why the club are leaving it so late is anybody’s guess but the situation just becomes more and more farcical with now the shirt springing up in all manner of places to pre-order online as well (with images), such as HERE.

Why don’t the club promote the shirt now and take pre-orders? They are hardly building the anticipation up into a crescendo anyway are they?!!

Anybody with access to online will have already seen the new shirt if they have any interest.

There again the grey away strip that came out just before the end of last season was given almost zero pre-publicity and it all just leaves me wondering what is going on? The almost total absence of that new away shirt on the streets tells its own story.

The chaotic relationship between NUFC and Puma, when added to poor sales and farcical ‘launches’ of strips (just google ‘new Arsenal strip’ and you will find links to the brilliant and professional recent launch of the new Arsenal/Puma strip) makes me wonder just what either party gets out of this current relationship?

The days of beautiful Adidas strips, thousands queuing at midnight for strip launches, millions and millions of merchandise profit flooding into club coffers every season, and almost every supporter proud (and willing) to wear the shirt….how did we come to this?
