Andy Carroll Transfer To Newcastle – Just How Many Things Are Wrong With This Story?

An Andy Carroll transfer back to Newcastle story has broken (yet again) this morning.

It is hard to know where to start when counting the holes in this sorry tale.

This story crops up every few months and surprise surprise, there is never any real substance to it.

On of the regular architects of these transfer ‘exclusives’ is our old friend…Alan Oliver, once of the Chronicle and now the Sunday People.

Alan reckons a Toon Source/Sauce has exclusively told him;

“Like all Geordies , Andy Carroll has never lost his love for Newcastle and we are sure if West Ham agree to sell we would have no difficulty in persuading him to come home.”

While on the small matter of dealing with Carroll’s £120,000 a week wages…

“Don’t forget, Alan Shearer turned down Manchester United to come home to Newcastle.”

I don’t think this really needs saying either but Andy Carroll is no Alan Shearer.

The story is of course rubbish.

No way would Ashley pay a transfer fee in the region of £15m and wages anywhere close to what Andy Carroll is on now.

Newcastle had their chance to sign Carroll but obviously had no interest in him, when he ended up at West Ham.

The other ‘small’ problem is that in the three and a half years since Carroll boarded Mike Ashley’s helicopter bound for Liverpool, he has only scored 15 goals, yes fifteen.

Look out for more exclusives coming your way from Alan Oliver.

A contributor to the website wrote a piece about the positives/negatives of bringing back Andy Carroll which you can read [intlink id=”45032″ type=”post”]HERE[/intlink].
