Alan Pardew ‘It’s Taken Us A While To Build And We’ve Had To Lose 1 or 2 Players Along The Way’
Alan Pardew is never usually short of confidence/self-assurance, but after the signing of Remy Cabella was completed, the Newcastle manager was in an especially bullish mood.
After adding Cabella to the signing of Siem De Jong, the way Pardew is speaking is although the job is all done, in terms of rebuilding the squad, or if you are being generous then you would say he knows of other signings in the near future that are a formality in terms of getting them ‘over the line’.
Speaking to NUFC TV, Alan Pardew said the following;
“It’s taken us a while to build and we’ve had to lose one or two great players along the way, Yohan Cabaye in particular, but we always knew that once this summer come, we could make a bigger step maybe.
“Hopefully that is reflected in performances, reflected hopefully in our fans, a belief in the team, and more importantly for the players that we’ve retained; Colo, Tiote, Tim Krul etc.
“We lack a bit of width which I hope he (Cabella) can provide, either side. He’s just got great talent on the ball and you can play him in three or four positions in the forward line.”
With such a small squad and so many players that are clearly unwanted within that understrength squad, there surely has to be any number of signings still to come, if Pardew’s uber confidence is to be shared amongst the rest of us.
