Newcastle ‘Top’ Striker Target Agrees Deal With Hamburg
Journalists close to Newcastle United and the Mike Ashley regime had claimed that Pierre Michel Lasogga was United’s first choice strike target, in defence of the shambles surrounding the failed attempt to land Bafetimbi Gomis.
Now it is reported in Germany that Lasogga is expected to sign for Hamburg on Tuesday.
With Hertha asking for 12m Euros and Hamburg offering 8m, the deal is expected to go through for around 10m Euros which equals approximately £8m, with the player said to be happy with the package offered by Hamburg.
The German newspaper Berlin Morgenpost say that Julian Schieber is lined up to replace the departing Lasogga, with Hertha Berlin recruiting the 25 year old German striker from Borussia Dortmund.
Where that all leaves Newcastle is anybody’s guess and I don’t know what is more depressing…
Have Newcastle been outmuscled by Hamburg in bidding for Lasogga, or have United fans yet again been led to believe that the club were actively trying to sign yet another strike target with no foundation in reality?
