Newcastle Target Now On Way To World Cup

Newcastle fans will have extra (possible) interest in the World Cup this summer, with long time target Remy Cabella called up to replace the injured Franck Ribery.

The Montpellier midfielder being one of seven reserves originally announced to cover the 23 man squad.

The initial reaction of Newcastle fans appears to be that this makes it even more unlikely that United will land the playmaker who scored 14 Ligue 1 goals from midfield last season.

Cabella’s involvement means that the perception is he will have less time to tie up a deal long-term, while any exposure in Brazil will surely only push up interest and the price.

The length of time Newcastle have been linked with Remy Cabella, you would surely hope that if they are really interested, then any deal would be a distance down the kine to be completed.

Maybe the World Cup angle could work to the advantage of Newcastle fans, so if Mike Ashley is going over the top in his bargaining, then this extra risk of losing the player may just persuade him to deal rather than bust.

We live in hope…
