Newcastle Midfielder Plays It For Laughs With Goals Claim
The signing of Jack Colback is in many ways a decent looking addition as a free, but it does add yet another member to the ever growing band of goal shy midfielders that Alan Pardew is accumulating, including Vurnon Anita. The ex-Sunderland player having scored only four Premier League goals in his entire career.
The Dutch midfielder though has declared his ambition to up his scoring rate, something that seems to have little basis in reality.

“For myself I think the season went well.
“I only scored once and that’s something I’m looking to improve on, pre-season I’ll work hard on my finishing to score more goals next season.
“I want to score more goals I want to get more than Moussa (Sissoko), he’s always reminding me that he has scored more than me – so next year my goal is to beat him.
“Our aim was to finish in the top ten which we have to be happy with.
“We would like to improve and finish in the top 6.”
For the record; Vurnon Anita has scored six league goals in six years of professional football.
While in Moussa Sissoko’s case, he has scored 26 top level league goals in seven seasons.
Goalscorers are very much born rather than manufactured and as well as just averaging one league goal a season, Anita struggles to even get into goal scoring positions.
Cheick Tiote is well worth his place in the Newcastle team on the back of what else he brings to the team, but with the Ivory Coast midfielder a guaranteed first teamer, you have to really start to worry if Alan Pardew’s intention is to play the likes of Anita and Colback as well.
