Newcastle Linked With Move For Adel Taarabt – One Of The Stranger Ones…

Like the rest of you my head is spinning with the procession of supposed Newcastle transfer targets, though United being linked with Adel Taarabt is definitely one of the stranger ones.

When Alan Pardew hasn’t got a clue how to handle Hatem Ben Arfa and get the best out of him, what chance would he have with Taarabt.

The Moroccan midfielder has clearly got ability but has always been a handful, and while he was a big factor in getting QPR out of the Championship in 2010/11, he hasn’t really translated that into Premier League form.

This season he was farmed out on loan to Fulham where he failed to score in 12 Premier League games, whereas a January move to AC Milan has obviously suited the skilful midfielder, scoring 4 goals in 14 appearances.

The lack of creativity was frightening last season at St.James’ Park after Ben Arfa’s early promise faded/was stifled and then the eventual departure of Yohan Cabaye.

Alan Pardew has extolled the virtues of hard work/teamwork etc which is all well and good, but flair and creativity must have their place as well.

Whether Adel Taarabt is the man to provide that at Newcastle is open to question.
