Newcastle Claim Striker Move Isn’t Happening

Newcastle United have denied that they are due to sign French second division striker Diafra Sakho.

The Senegalese striker has played all of his football in the lower divisions but made his mark last season with 20 goals in 37 matches, which helped Metz win promotion to the top tier of French football.

However, Sky Sports claim that Newcastle have informed them that they aren’t interested in trying to sign Sakho.

The 24 year old had been heavily linked with a move to St.James’ Park but allegedly there is nothing doing.

Rumours of a move are on the cards because Sakho only has one year of his contract left and is reportedly intent on a move despite Metz’ promotion.

Even the fact that the forward is reported to be available for around £2m hasn’t swayed Mike Ashley.

The trend of NUFC being linked with lower league strikers from around Europe is becoming a regular occurrence, let’s hope that isn’t the only plan.
