Newcastle Could Be An Ameobi Free Zone By August

Reports this morning claim that Sammy Ameobi could be permanently following brother Shola out of the door this summer.

The younger Ameobi apparently has a number of lower division clubs interested, with Middlesbrough said to be heading the queue.

Sammy was at the Riverside on loan two seasons ago and appeared nine times in the Championship, with one wonder goal to show for his efforts.

That goal remains the only one he has scored in 38 league appearances, though he has got two in the League Cup.

The Journal report that Sammy Ameobi will be allowed to leave just so long as Newcastle manage to bring in the forward players they are after.

Surely a frightening thought that if the club management don’t have faith in the younger Ameobi but we could end up relying on him next season…

The 22 year old only has one year left on his contract and in recent days has been saying how he is determined to work as hard this summer to give his best chance at St.James’ Park this coming season.

From the sounds of it, it is too little and far too late as far as Newcastle are concerned.
