New Rudi Garcia Contract Leads To Debuchy Speculation
Rudi Garcia was a massive success at Lille, and with Mathieu Debuchy and Yohan Cabaye’s help, the French manager brought the league and cup double to the French club in 2011.
That success didn’t go unnoticed and that Lille team was quickly raided with players such as Hazard and the likes of Cabaye & Debuchy snatched away.
Garcia’s star though continues to rise and in his first year in Serie A at AS Roma, the former Lille manager has led them into the Champions League, with only Juventus finishing ahead of them in the table.
Debuchy was said to have a great rapport with Garcia and during last season, there was speculation that he would like to take the Newcastle right-back to Italy.
Garcia’s first season success in Rome has led to a new three year contract extension which secures his position until 2018, and on the back of this new deal and Champions League qualification, the Roma manager has been promised backing in the transfer market.
This latest move has obviously sparked interest in who Garcia will target to strengthen his team and squad to compete in the Champions League and build on that Serie A runners-up spot.
Little surprise to see Mathieu Debuchy’s name linked again with rejoining his former Lille boss. With the player recently avoiding answering a question about his future by claiming his agent dealt with all that, it could be a nervy summer for Newcastle fans as to the future of last season’s player of the year.
