Look, I know we are all excited because unbelievably Newcastle United have actually bought a player, but there are limits as to how we should all be treating this signing of Ayoze Perez…Spanish Second Division striker for £1.6m.

The Chronicle for example came up with this headline and write up;

Revealed: The long list of clubs Newcastle United beat to sign Ayoze Perez

The Chronicle understands that United had stiff competition to sign the 20 year old and clubs such as Porto, Arsenal, Everton, Shalke, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille, Real Madrid, and Valenica all looked closely at the player who netted 16 goals in 34 matches in the Segunda Division last season.

Azoze Perez: Why I chose Newcastle ahead of Arsenal and Real Madrid

The idea that Newcastle have stolen a march on all those teams listed, must have a devout following of…

Well I was going to include the journalists who wrote the stories/headlines, however I don’t even think they could be that naive, I will just limit that list to Ashley and Pardew – both kidding themselves they have the new Cristiano Ronaldo rather than another Romain Amalfitano…
