Club Vice-President Realistic About Not Being Able To Keep Newcastle Strike Target
Newcastle United were reported in recent days to be [intlink id=”44127″ type=”post”]\’favourites\’ to land Ecuador striker Enner Valencia[/intlink].
However, the striker who moved to the Mexican League at the turn of the year has now scored three goals in his two World Cup matches and attracted plenty headlines.
The Vice-President of Pachuca, Andres Fassi, said,
“Valencia’s value increases every day – we don’t know if he will stay as it will be hard given the offers we’ve received.
It would hurt us to let Enner Valencia go but we’re realistic about his quality.
“The options for a great player are to be taken into account but he has to just keep doing things right for now.”
The Mexican club aren’t strangers to interest from the Premier League with winger Jurgen Damm having had a two week trial at Manchester United, with recent weeks seeing Andres Fassi also talking up the prospects of selling Dam for big money to Chelsea. Due to dual Mexican/German nationality, Chelsea would have no problem on the work permit front.
So with the Mexican club being well aware of the money Premier League clubs will be throwing around this summer, they are realistic that trading players could give Pachuca a massive financial shot in the arm.
Whether Newcastle are ready and willing to outbid any club for Valencia, or indeed any player, remains to be seen.
