Championship Side Agrees Deal With Newcastle For Duo
A deal to take Newcastle United’s James Tavernier and Haris Vuckic to Rotherham is reported to have been agreed by the two clubs.
However, with a number of other clubs also interested in Tavernier, the attacking full-back has a number of options and is said to favour Wigan who have offered better terms.
Despite a mixed time on loan, Vuckic is said to be more than happy with what’s on offer at Rotherham, the midfielder/striker scoring 4 goals in 25 appearances last season, though onkly 9 of those matches saw him on from the start.
Tavernier managed five goals from full-back in 30 appearances and was arguably Rotherham’s best player as he was a key part in helping them into the Championship via the play-offs.
While there are doubts about his defending at the top level, many Newcastle fans would have liked to see Tavernier giving a bit of a chance to see if his undoubted talent and mobility on the ball going forward, could have translated onto the Premier League stage.
