Who To Believe on Newcastle United Striker ‘Offer’?

If ever there was a case of who can you believe, we have the heavyweight contest between Mike Ashley and Leeds owner Massimo Cellino.

This morning we heard that the new Leeds owner had said;

“Newcastle made an offer for (striker Ross)McCormack and I said no, he’s happy to stay here and that made me proud.”

The 27 year old Leeds striker scored 28 goals last season in the Championship but despite this encouraging profile, Mike Ashley and Newcastle United are keen to rubbish these claims.

With Sky Sports News saying;

“Sky sources described Cellino’s statement as ‘nonsense’ (why would Newcastle be buying anybody now when they’d have to pay them 2 months wages for no return…) and insist that no bid has been lodged with the Elland Road outfit.”

Only a week before the World Cup kicks off and still no signing…
