Bafetimbi Gomis In Talks With Chinese Club – Reports
According to the French media, eternal Newcastle target Bafetimbi Gomis has held talks with Chinese club Shanghai Shenua, or to give them their full name, Shanghai Greenland Shenua.
The Greenland group took over the club completely in January 2014 and have incorporated their company name into the club’s.
The reports over in France claim that talks have began for Gomis to make the switch to China, though I have my doubts as to how serious this proposition is for the French striker.
Gomis said recently that as he accepted Monaco and PSG were unlikely to come in for him, he was almost certain to move abroad and looked forward to sampling a different ‘culture’, though it remains to be seen whether it was the Chinese variety he had in mind.
Shanghai Greenland/Shensua aren’t even one of the bigger clubs in China and so paying the striker’s massive wage demands would appear unlikely, they are currently languish in twelfth place out of sixteen, with the Chinese League currently taking a mid-season break from May until July.
With crowds averaging fourteen thousand it is hard to see any factors that would capture Gomis’ attention, unless Greenland come up with a ridiculous wage offer.
Certainly any claims that Gomis was moving for ambition would disappear with such a move to China.
From a Newcastle perspective you would just like to see the circus ended with a conclusion to the future of players like Bafetimbi Gomis, rather than fans given false hope on a regular basis.
