Bafetimbi Gomis Agrees Terms and Set For Medical
News this morning that Bafetimbi Gomis has agreed terms with Swansea and is expected to complete his medical today, as reported by the Press Association.
in terms of relative ambitions to Newcastle, it is also now claimed that Swansea want to play Gomis WITH Wlifried Bony, rather than as a replacement for a supposedly due to depart Bony.
If that becomes reality then Swansea could have one of the most formidable striker partnerships in the Premier League, two players who Newcastle supposedly were interested in but seemingly were incapable of competing for under Mike Ashley’s doomed to failure ‘plan’.
The first weekend in October will give Newcastle fans a chance to see what might have been, when United travel to the Liberty Stadium.
The transfer picture for Newcastle is looking murkier by the day, if the club were interested in Gomis, which certainly appears to be the case, then it does make you wonder exactly who NUFC can successfully compete for.
The only obvious conclusion for me, is that with such tight unbending financial constraints on transfer fees and wages, Newcastle will have to end up taking a striker(s) with a much greater risk factor than the likes of Gomis who has a credible track record.
With a team totally lacking in creativity, throwing in a novice untried striker or two sounds like a recipe for disaster.
