News yesterday that while Fabricio Coloccini failed to make Argentina’s preliminary World Cup squad, 21 year old Aussie Curtis Good has been selected for Australia’s initial 30 man squad.

After breaking down with injury again after a month off, it looked as though Good might miss out, but his fears haven’t been realised with his selection confirmed in the preliminary squad, with 7 players to drop out for the final selection.

Elsewhere, Cheick Tiote predictably made the Ivory Coast’s 28 man preliminary squad, while Mathieu Debuchy, Moussa Sissoko and Loic Remy were all selected alongside Yohan Cabaye’s 23 man finalised squad. Alleged Newcastle target Remy Cabella was a surprise choice as one of the 7 reserves on standby.

Tim Krul was relieved to make Hollland’s preliminary squad but it is touch and go as to whether he will make the final cut, having been ignored by his national coach in recent times.

Shola Ameobi was named last week in Nigeria’s 30 man preliminary squad.
