Transfer Business ALL Done Before World Cup Becomes…’A Lot Of Work To Do’ (Alan Pardew)
One thing I will give credit to the club for is that their PR machine still continues to fool some of the people some of the time, with friendly journalists having put a positive spin on Newcastle’s summer transfer business, only for reality to hit home.
First we were led to believe that a new signing would be confirmed within a week of the end of the season, then it was ‘Newcastle to get all transfer business done before World Cup kicks off’.
The only crumb of comfort I can see is that most of the players United do seem to be after aren’t going to be anywhere near featuring in the World Cup, so we’ll only have to drag them away from their TVs where they’ll be watching it from like the rest of us!
The Premier League season ended 19 days ago and the World Cup starts in less than two weeks time (12 June – 13 days away).
When asked to comment on how transfer business was going so far, Alan Pardew told the Shields Gazette;
“There is a lot of negotiating to do and a lot of work to do this summer, there is no doubt about that.”
The only signing that appears to have any chance of happening by the time the World Cup kicks off, is that of Spanish second division striker, Ayoze Perez.
I honestly dread the start of August coming around and with a week or two of the season starting, hearing the club’s PR putting out the message ‘we still have until the end of August you know….’.
