Tim Krul Makes Final Cut

After being left out of the pre-World Cup match squad against France, things looked bleak for Newcastle’s Tim Krul.

However, the United keeper was one of four picked in the preliminary squad and today’s final selection of 23 has seen Tim Krul selected for Brazil at the expense of  Jeroen Zoet, who was one of six players Louis Van Gaal has chopped from his initial squad.

Zoet of course has been linked heavily over the last coupole of transfer windows as both potential back up and/or replacement for Tim Krul.

Krul will be competing with Ajax keeper Jasper Cillessen and Swansea’s Michel Vorm for the number one shirt, though it would appear that the Newcastle goalkeeper is clearly number three at this moment in time.

Krul’s personal form and his place in the international set-up has undoubtedly suffered with the chaos at St.James’ Park. Hopefully his selection for this World Cup will make it more likely that the likeable Dutchman will stick around at Newcastle United for at least another season.

Good lick Tim and fingers crossed that he wrestles that number one shirt away from the other two.
