Steven Taylor Gives Fans Lift Saying He’s Here To Stay
Living up to usual billing by shooting himself in the foot on a regular basis, Steven Taylor has been waxing lyrical about the win over Cardiff.
The defender who should be protected from himself, was allowed to speak to the press after playing only eleven minutes of Saturday’s match when he also scored his first goal in three years.
Instead of quietly preparing for the trip to Anfield and next season, Taylor has instead put his head over the parapet and made himself a target for the many fans who, rightly or wrongly, see him as a liability at St.James’ Park;
“We have now got something to shout about leading into that Liverpool match, after scoring three goals and keeping a clean sheet.
“We are really looking forward to Liverpool now – the players just wanted that win (Cardiff) and everyone was happy afterwards.
“We want to finish the season well.
“It has been a frustrating time and we couldn’t let other matters affect us – the lads stuck to the game plan and everything fell right.
“That City game (first match of season) killed me and it has been a frustrating season for me.
“I am under contract for a couple of years and so I’m looking to bounce back and kick on next season.”
