Reports Say Newcastle Looking To Help Man U Offload Another Liability
The Wilfried Zaha to Newcastle United transfer link has resurfaced with a £7m transfer fee speculated, with Cardiff’s relegation meaning there is no way they could afford to keep the winger, though it would have been a major surprise if they’d wanted to anyway.
Brought in to try and help the Welsh club’s survival, Zaha has only started five matches and indeed hadn’t been selected in the month leading up to the match at St.James’ Park.
When battling qualities are desperately needed, it is maybe no surprise he has been overlooked – the five starts Zaha has made have produced only one point and Cardiff have conceded thirteen goals in the process. While Zaha hasn’t managed to notch any, neither have his team in any of those five games either.
Apart from one run when he twisted Debuchy inside out, Zaha was totally anonymous, while against Sunderland the week before, Alan Shearer highlighted on Match of The Day how the winger was strolling around while his teammates were battling for everything.
After the disasters of Obertan and Alan Smith (who admitted after he’d signed that due to a bad injury he wasn’t the player he had been), hopefully Newcastle won’t go down the same route of taking on a liability from the Mancs.
