Pardew ‘When I Meet Mike Ashley Sometimes The Mantle Falls On Me To Be Strong’
Responding to a question where he was asked if he had to convince Mike Ashley that he should stay as manager, Alan Pardew opted instead to give us an insight into what happens when Newcastle’s owner and manager meet up at the end of a season
Pardew claiming that sometime the ‘mantle’ falls for him to be strong in the discussions and at other times, the ‘mantle’ falls on Mike Ashley.
With Alan Pardew undermined and not supported in transfer window after transfer window, exactly what does Alan Pardew say when he is wearing the ‘mantle’ and being ‘strong’?
This is the question and answer from Alan Pardew’s pre-Cardiff press conference;
Do you have to convince Mike Ashley that you are still the right man for the job?
“I don’t think that’s the point, I think the point is very much that every year I have been here, we’ve sat down face to face, with the problems we’ve both had as manager and owner, and tried to address them.
“Sometimes the mantle falls for me to be strong and sometimes for him, but we’ll address that after the last two games.
“Whatever happens I’m sure that meeting will be constructive.”
