Pardew – I’m Telling Players They Need New Clubs

News this morning that Alan Pardew has a number of players who he is going to inform that they need new clubs with Hatem Ben Arfa believed to be at the top of the list.

The  Newcastle manager has told the Shields Gazette, that he will be informing certain unnamed players that they have no future at the club, and that moving on this summer will be best for all parties.

While Pardew hasn’t named anybody, the newspaper has put forward Hatem Ben Arfa, Sylvain Marveaux and Gabriel Obertan at the head of that list. No doubt the likes of Jonas and others won’t be too far behind.

Alan Pardew;

“There are some players here that need new clubs.

“I will be advising them that it might be better to move on.”

It is all well and good making a list of players that you want to get rid of but as we have seen all too often in the past, it is quite another thing actually shifting them.

While Hatem Ben Arfa will undoubtedly find a new home – if the club let him go on the cheap, I find it very difficult to see who would take Marveaux and Obertan.

No French clubs (who would potentially be interested in them) will be able to match their wages, so unless Ashley is prepared to give them away and/or offset some of their wages, I fail to see how they won’t sit out the two years each of them have left on their ridiculously long contracts. Much as they have done the last 12 months.

Funnily enough, other clubs are a bit more interested in Carrolll, Ba, Cabaye, Debuchy, Tiote…
