Nobby Solano Laments The Youth Of Today
Ex-Newcastle United star, Nobby Solano, has lamented the situation of young players in English football.
The Peruvian maestro has been comparing young players in this country with those in South America, Solano believing that those from his home continent are generally much more driven because football is a route out of poverty for many of them.
“Some players are earning huge amounts of money, despite not playing regularly for their club side.
“They are happy to take the money and when you are earning that money at age 18 or 20, what is the motivation to go on, to improve and earn international honours?
“It is not just the Premier League, the same thing you see happening in the Championship.
“I am not against young players earning big money but you have to question whether it makes them as hungry as they should be.
“I think that England suffers as a result.”
No doubt we could all identify one or two Newcastle young players over the years who didn’t have quite the right attitude.
