Newcastle United Youngster Gets First Full International Call Up
Despite his Newcastle career stalling alarmingly, it hasn’t stopped Gael Bigirinama getting his first full international call up.
After being one of the very few young players to show promise last season, Bigirimana hasn’t seen a single minute of pitch time in the Premier League this season.
Exactly why this has been the case hasn’t been explained by anybody at the football club – as is the case with pretty much everything else. However, what exactly Bigirimana must think when the likes of Dan Gosling are getting games ahead of him is anybody’s guess.
After appearing for England Under 20’s, Gael Bigirimana was persuaded by Burundi boss Reverien Ndikuriyo earlier this year to pledge allegiance to Burundi, as is the case with West Brom’s Saido Berahino who has also received his first call up.
The squad of 18 have been named for the first leg of the preliminary first round qualifier against Botswana, which will be played later this month.
Looking at the full squad, I have to say that I found one of the player’s names a classic. I really hope one day 23 year old Papy Faty will be making big headlines.
