Newcastle Tie Up Spanish Second Division Striker According To Media Reports

After a flurry of speculation about interest from Newcastle, some media are now claiming that a deal has been agreed to bring Ayoze Perez to Tyneside.

The Spanish striker has scored 16 goals in 34 matches, which is a decent return, though the fact he’s scored them in the Spanish second tier takes quite a bit away from it.

The twenty year old still has three matches to play before Tenerife wrap up their season, with Perez’ club having an outside chance of reaching the play-offs – three points behind with the three games to play.

This season has seen the young striker play his first senior football but with Perez turning 21 this summer and not having represented Spain at any level, it has to be a big ask to think he will be able to make the jump to Premier League level even if he is given time.

You can only hope Newcastle will be wary after picking up Amalfitano from the French second division and then discovering that he was any number of levels below what is needed in the English top tier.

It is reported that Ayoze Perez has a £2m buyout clause and his agent has been talking up other interest, including Real Madrid…

This all promises to be one crazy summer of transfer fun.
