Newcastle Target Confirms Moving In The Summer
A player that Newcastle have long been credited with an interest in, Remy Cabella, has confirmed he is leaving Montpellier in the summer.
United were reported to have approached the French club in January but the player himself said he wouldn’t leave then, due to a relegation fight he felt he couldn’t opt out of.
By a distance their best player this season, Cabella almost singlehandedly dragged Montpellier up the table, and as well as been top of the assists table for the French club he’s also scored a very impressive 14 goals from midfield in only 35 appearances.
On Saturday night, Montpellier play Bastia in their second last game of the season, the final one at home.
For Remy Cabella it is the very final one as he has confirmed via his Twitter account that he is leaving in the summer.
“Tonight last match at the Mosson, never forget the winner of the Gambardella and French Champions with MHSC”
(Ce soir dernier match à La Mosson ..N’oubliez jamais Vainqueur de la Gambardella et Champion de…)
Thanks to Pierre for the translation as always.
Just in case you were wondering, the ‘Gambardella’ is the under 19 national cup and Champions with MHSC refers of course to when both he and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa won the French title with Montpellier two years ago. ‘Mosson’ is the name of Montpellier’s stadium.
