Newcastle and Sunderland Fight Over Fraizer Campbell According To Welsh Media

The media in Wales are claiming that relegated Cardiff could lose Fraizer Campbell i the summer, with both Newcastle and Sunderland said to be interested in signing him.

Campbell of course played for the mackems previously and while that fact wouldn’t be a barrier to his potential acceptance as a Newcastle player.

Fans would take some convincing that a striker with only 27 goals in 153 league appearances in England (both Premier League and Championship), is what Newcastle would need after Remy departs.

While the 26 year old has had his injury problems, signing a forward who has never managed double figures, apart from one season on loan in Belgium, is a questionable move.

However, if Newcastle are aiming at English/British players then with the predicted limited budget put up by Ashley, it is hard to see which proven goalscorers Newcastle could attract.

With six goals in thirty six Premier League appearances this season, Campbell has failed to help keep Cardiff up, which sadly would almost certainly be the case for Newcastle United if this was the level of striker Ashley & Pardew can get ‘over the line’.
