Newcastle Ship Out Nine Players With More To Follow?
Newcastle United have named nine departures whose contracts are coming to a close this summer.
Heading the list are De Jong, Remy and Shola, while Conor Newton and Dan Gosling also leave St.James’ Park.
Making it nine players in total are youngsters Michael Richardson, Brandon Miele, Steven Logan and Jonathan Mitchell.
Shola made 397 appearances in his 14 years as first team squad player, scoring 79 goals.
A relief for most fans that players such as Shola, De Jong and Gosling have been allowed to go, as whatever great blokes they are blah blah blah, they weren’t of the standard needed to do a job in the Premier League.
Shame of course that no effort was made to keep Loic Remy but not many of us surprised by that.
Good luck especially to the four who haven’t made it into the first team picture in their United careers and who as yet haven’t been fixed up with new clubs – Conor Newton having already committed to a two year contract at Rotherham.
“Shola is a leader of men and a great role model for our younger players.
“Such loyalty and commitment in the modern game is rare.”
“I’m sure with the team and management they have, Newcastle will go from strength to strength.”
“I hope to come back to Newcastle United in some capacity one day…”
