Newcastle Midfielder Reveals Summer Departure Via Twitter

Newcastle midfielder Conor Newton has revealed that he will be leaving United at the end of this season.

The 22 year old Geordie agreed a further one year contract last summer but was then loaned to St.Mirren instantly for another season, without then having a chance to see if he could progress within the Newcastle United set-up.

Despite being a key player for St.Mirren this season and helping them to a respectable eighth in the league, Conor has now announced that Newcastle aren’t looking to keep him at the club via his Twitter account;

“Sad to hear I won’t be at Newcastle United next season but I’m looking forward to a new page of my career & life…but I would like to thank the club and wish them & my friends I leave behind there all the best in their future endeavours.”

With reports recently that St.Mirren are desperate to keep him, along with interest said to be shown by Championship clubs in England, it happily looks like the Geordie midfielder will have little problem getting fixed up elsewhere.

Best of luck to Conor Newton from everybody at The Mag and while his future doesn’t look like it will be with NUFC, great to see as many players as possible from Tyneside making it.

Plus, we shouldn’t feel too sorry for him as he’s already got something the rest of are never likely to see – silverware! Having won the Scottish League Cup last season along with Paul Dummett.
