Newcastle €8m Remy Cabella Bid Rejected As Montpellier Ask For €15m And PSG Get Involved
It all looked too good to be true, when earlier today some French media reported that Newcastle and Montpellier had agreed a deal of €8m (£6.5m) for Remy Cabella.
However, now the owner of Montpellier, Louis Nicollin, has confirmed that not only have they knocked back Newcastle’s €8m offer, but that this was only one of a number of offers they have received. This apparently confirming reports last weekend that Newcastle officials were heading to France to negotiate for Cabella.
“Over ten days we have received two or three offers, including €8m (from Newcastle) which doesn’t match our expectations. The President (owner Louis Nicollin’s son, Laurent) has told them €15m.”
Le10 Sport in France have also revealed an exclusive today stating that PSG have joined the clubs already after Cabella, with Marseille already reported to have registered an interest. (Thanks again to our translator Pierre for the overtime this week)
Meanwhile, when questioned earlier this week, Remy Cabella himself confirmed that there will be confirmation of a move ‘soon’.
When asked about whether a move was on, Cabella said;
“Not yet, we will see – soon, soon.
“I’ll think about it in the coming days- it will happen soon.”
