Mike Ashley Has Cooled On Loic Remy Deal
It is reported this morning that Mike Ashley has ‘cooled’ his interest in bidding for Loic Remy
The striker is said to have a £12m asking price by Queens Park Rangers, although whether there is a lower buyout clause is still a possibility.
Whether the striker had any interest in staying is very doubtful, though maybe not half as doubtful as Mike Ashley being prepared to pay £12m and long-term £100,000 a week wages to the player who turned Newcastle down only 16 months ago.
Alan Pardew in recent days tried to suggest that the club were still trying everything they could to keep Remy and were hopeful of doing so.
However, you’d have to be a bit dopey to believe that there is any chance of a deal now, seen as the player has been at St.James’ Park for eight months with not a sniff of him staying, or the club making any real effort to tie anything up while he was playing for us.
Sadly, the only reasoning for positive messages from the likes of Pardew about the possibility of Remy staying, can only be put down to the club’s desperation of trying to kid fans that there is any ambition left at the football club.
