Mick Quinn Warns Against A ‘Lame Duck’ Manager

Former Newcastle favourite Mick Quinn has warned that unless there is an abrupt u-turn, Newcastle United are likely to be heading for relegation.

The popular pundit believes that Alan Pardew will be a ‘lame duck’ if Mike Ashley doesn’t back him with serious cash this summer.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Quinn’s lame duck comment will surely lead many fans to wonder ‘what’s new?’ where Pardew is concerned.

Mick Quinn;

“If Pardew is not given serious investment by the owner (Mike Ashley) then he is a lame duck manager.

“If Ashley’s sticking with the guy he knows and trusts then he has got to back him, or we’re talking relegation – it is as simple as that.”

After undermining Alan Pardew season after season with no player purchases in the last 15 months and no net spending two years ago after finishing fifth, despite Pardew having already stated as fact that Newcastle were bringing in a number of players including a commanding centre-back who would also score goals.

It is very difficult to see that the Newcastle owner would do anything with the intention of helping Alan Pardew.

The only chance of Mike Ashley spending the kind of realistic money necessary to avoid a serious United slide, is if the owner thinks his investment is in danger of losing value….or ‘relegation’ as the rest of us call it.

Will Ashley grasp reality or leave his lame duck to face the music yet again?

An interesting summer ahead.
