LA Fitness Is Next Free Advertising Lined Up For St James Park
The next free advertising at St James Park we’re likely to see at St.James’ Park next season, is LA Fitness.
Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct is in talks to acquire the leases on around 30 LA Fitness sites around the UK.
According to reports, Ashley has been desperate to further diversify into this lucrative health and fitness sector, with the Newcastle United owner now said to have found the perfect entry into that sector.
Sources have reported that Ashley is attracted by the fact the health & fitness sector offers a perfect fit with his ownership of brands such as Dunlop, Slazenger, Everlast and the Californian brand, LA Gear.
It is expected that if successful with this deal, Ashley will be pursuing an aggressive expansion of the business via other acquisitions.
With the latest rich list showing Ashley moving towards £4billion with a near one and a half billion pound rise in the last year, it must be a very good bet that he will become the richest British person in years to come, with the Duke of Westminster at £8.5billion at the top of the tree.
As for Newcastle fans, it is an irony that the richer Mike Ashley gets, the less chance there appears to be of him running Newcastle United as an ambitious football club, on and off the pitch.
Ashley thinks he’s found a clever self-financing way of advertising the various arms of his business empire for free at St.James’ Park.
Those of us who can see the transparent underlying decline at the club, on and off the pitch, only see disaster heading the way of Newcastle United.
