French Media Report Christophe Galtier In Talks To Replace Pardew

A story breaking today in France, sees L’Equipe reporting that Newcastle have approached Christophe Galtier to replace Alan Pardew.

The St.Etienne manager sees his contract run out at the end of this season and after leading the French club into the top four (currently 4th and five points clear of 5th with two games to play), Galtier’s star is on the rise.

He led St.Etienne to French League Cup success last season, after successfully retaining Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last January, the striker eventually signing for Borussia Dortmund (£11m) in the summer after claims that Newcastle had lodged a bid in that winter transfer window.

Despite noises to the contrary, it would be no surprise if Mike Ashley is looking desperately for something to stop the flood of fans not renewing season tickets and Alan Pardew would be the obvious sacrifice.

Galtier previously worked in England with Alain Perrin in Portsmouth nine years ago, though it is also reported that Newcastle would potentially have competition for the St.Etienne manager from Aston Villa, where Paul Lambert has had his struggles this season.
