Four Newcastle Players Offered To French Clubs
It is reported this morning that Newcastle have circulated the names of Gabriel Obertan, Mapou Yanga-M’Biwa, Sylvain Marveaux and Hatem Ben Arfa to clubs in France
None of those players look to have a future at St.James’ Park and certainly not under Alan Pardew.
Well The Journal are claiming that they understand United are asking for £3m for Sylvain Marveaux.
Something that tells me they are really going to struggle in getting players off the books and it could have a big impact on possible players coming in.
There have been regular mentions that a certain amount of money will be sanctioned by Mike Ashley for transfer, but that will need to be topped up by a number of player sales.
For starters, clubs in France will really struggle to get anywhere near English wages, plus the tax situation means they’d actually have to offer more for the players to receive the same net return as they get here at Newcastle.
A figure of £3m for Sylvain Marveaux is surely laughable for a player who has started only 13 Premier League matches in 3 years. With two years still left on his contract, the only way for Newcastle to get him out of the door will be if they give him away, to then allow a French club to potentially get close to his current wages.
The same is undoubtedly true for Obertan, while Mapou and Ben Arfa will probably find clubs but not with any great return for Newcastle.
The impact this will have on the transfer kitty is obvious and all I can see is a long hard summer ahead.
