We are used to a lot of strange goings on surrounding Newcastle United, but now it has been revealed that a presenter made a bizarre claim that Hatem Ben Arfa ‘chinned’ Alan Pardew.

The club are now reported to have threatened Richard Keys with legal action regarding the matter, as they deny any such incident has taken place..

‘Rocky’ Ben Arfa Gets To Grips

Keys, who works for Bein Sports TV and is based in Doha, is said to have made the comments during Newcastle’s home match with Cardiff, then repeated the claim in a tweet which he later deleted – but which in the meantime had been retweeted by a large number of people.

The message Keys sent out on Twitter read;

“Heard Ben Arfa chinned Pardew. If that’s the case one or the other will have to go.”

It has also been reported by The Mail that the club have complained to the Premier League and to Keys’ bosses at Bein Sports.

Following the match, Pardew was apparently quizzed by the media about the claims and now Newcastle United are refusing Keys access to any NUFC players or other staff until the issue is resolved satisfactorily.

I can see fans and media having a lot of fun with this story and while Richard Keys should possibly stick to going on message boards under an assumed name with his unsubstantiated drivel, you have to think as well that Newcastle United are going a bit over the top with that daft story.

Though of course Mike Ashley and Newcastle United have to protect the club’s reputation and integrity…
