Cash Rich Ligue 1 Club Look At Moussa Sissoko In French Recruitment Drive

Following Moussa Sissoko’s agent saying that the player is ‘open to all proposals’ in a TV interview, cash rich Monaco are now claimed to be interested in taking the midfielder back into Ligue 1.

As one of the two clubs in Ligue 1 with massive transfer funds, Monaco are said to be looking to right an embarrassing statistic when it comes to the French World Cup squad.

PSG and Monaco were clear at the top of the league table but while PSG have three players (including January’s recruitment of Cabaye) in Deschamps’ Brazil squad, Monaco have embarrassingly not got a single one.

Not only does this look pretty rubbish for appearances sake, just like the top clubs in England, there is a growing realisation with the top French clubs that homegrown players can give their teams/squads an added something that recruits from abroad cannot.

This is how we brought you the news of Sissoko’s agent’s comments yesterday;

The doubts over Sissoko’s future have now heightened with his agent Frederic Guerrra making the following comment on Eurosport;

“He has only a year and a half on his contract at Newcastle and we are open to all proposals.”

This is where the story gets a bit more complicated because when Moussa Sissoko moved to Newcastle in January 2013, he signed a six and a half year contract. Even with my limited maths, I know that this ties him up to June 2019 – another five years for him to serve yet.

Unless there is some kind of clause in Sissoko’s contract allowing him to force a move, then it would appear that the contractual route wouldn’t be playing a part in any departure.
