Brendan Rodgers Makes Clear Liverpool Game Plan v Newcastle

Brendan Rodgers hasn’t been shy in laying his game plan wide open for all to see.

The Liverpool manager has stated that his strategy against Newcastle today is to go at the visitors from the first second and score the first goal as quickly as possible.

Rodgers believing that if they do so then it represents by far the best chance of putting pressure on Manchester City who face West Ham.

“We have to keep doing our job which is to get the win, it will be interesting if we make one of our quick starts and get up in the game.

“There will then be a point in the game when we are up and they are drawing.

“At Chelsea there was a game towards the end of the season, and it isn’t nice either, when you know that there is another team playing that can win and that you have to not lose.

“It is uncomfortable, it was a nervy one and you could sense it – the crowd and the players.

“Even though it was deemed it was going to happen, there was nervousness there.

“It is not over by any stretch of the imagination, West Ham are a really good defensive unit and Andy Carroll can score goals, they’ve got other players who can score goals.”

Sounds like it could be a canny game for the neutrals but maybe best if Newcastle players and fans get the tin hats ready…
