Alan Pardew Likened To Sir Alex Ferguson

Alan Pardew has been likened to Sir Alex Ferguson by Rotherham manager Steve Evans.

The boss of the Yorkshire club was speaking after his side successfully reached the Championship via a Wembley play-off.

Talking to the Chronicle about the loan deals that took both Haris Vuckic and James Tavernier to Rotherham, Evans said;

“He (Pardew) will look at it from a distance and a professional point of view.

“He’s a pleasure to deal with and he’s very much like Sir Alex Ferguson to deal with on that basis.”

The Rotherham manager speaking about the future of Tavernier and Vuckic added;

“I know Alan wanted to get the play-offs out of the way before he sat down with both lads.

“They’ve both been excellent for us.

“Haris came in on the back of an injury and he has managed to get back on the pitch and do well – Tav has been great for us.

“We’re thankful to Alan Pardew, Lee Charnley and Steve Stone for allowing us to have their players.”

As for the two players in question, I find it hard to see Vuckic having any chance of making it in the Premier League having failed to get regular football at Rotherham, plus seeing his lack of mobility with my own eyes.

With James Tavernier, he undoubtedly has talent but may find it hard to translate that to the top level. His big strength is as an attacking full-back and can get away with defensive weaknesses at a lower level that would be shown up in the Premier League.

Whatever happens, good luck to both of them as from everything I’ve heard they canny lads.
