Only hours after Alan Pardew and his players subjected the fans to another dismal display and result against Swansea, Yohan Cabaye was picking up the first medal of a league and cup double he will be ‘winning’ in only three months since his departure from Newcastle.

On Saturday night PSG beat Lyon 2-1 in the French League Cup final, Cabaye a 74th minute substitute to help close out the game with all three goals already having been scored.

After the match in front of 78,489 at the Stade De France, Yohan Cabaye said;

“This is why I am here, we are playing to win and it is a trophy won.

“ In the final, no matter how, the most important thing is to win.”

Cabaye and PSG could tie up the League as early as Wednesday night if results go their way, if Monaco lose today and PSG win on Wednesday then Cabaye would be sure of the double with four matches still to be played.

In  the meantime Newcastle United have reiterated the club policy of not trying in the cups and from what we have seen in recent games, have also extended that to the Premier League.
