Stevie G Is In Our Thoughts
I’m bored, it’s a Monday morning and I’m scanning the internet looking for snippets of sporting news, most of it is all about Liverpool and ‘Stevie G’, for personal reasons I took great delight in their demise yesterday!
Wouldn’t it be good if we can go to Anfield on the season finale and only concede 5 instead of 6 to thwart the Liverpool title dream….let them wait longer for a title…..it could be much longer as next season Jose will strengthen, City will break FFP rules and spend massively, Man Utd won’t mess up again and so on and so forth!
I have little sympathy for Liverpool and their ‘long suffering fans’ and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing their own Stevie G mess up yesterday, irony of all ironies should he cost them the title, I never did forgive him for a two footed lunge on Nobby in front of the Gallowgate a few years ago!
Sunderland made a few headlines obviously and their own fanzine website is bigging up their massive win against Cardiff played in front of an equally massive crowd, I then checked what the attendance was, surely it must be a full house? But no, the crowd was given as 42397, a mere 6000 below capacity for what must have been the biggest game of the season.
Sunderland do have a loyal support, they have gone as long without winning anything…nearly as long as us, that said Hartlepool have a loyal support, it is just smaller than everyone else!
Continuing looking at match attendances it is clear that people like me are the mugs, the staggering recent 50k plus attendance for our meaningless game with Swansea says it all
Despite the threat of boycotts, people not renewing season tickets; our crowds, albeit subdued, are still attending in massive numbers.
No doubt there will be another 50k plus attendance on Saturday!
So we’ve got Arsenal tonight and I have chosen to forego attending; the expense, inconvenience, and tube strike being minor contributory factors, the main factor is we are s***.
This season has seen me attend less away games than ever before, simply because we are s***, it’s a pity I can’t, or don’t, use the same excuse for hone games!
Back to the news and HBA again gets amongst it, is he really that much of a bad influence or does he just let his frustration get the better of him playing with such inferior wearers of the shirt! Depending which paper you read, HBA will either be in France tonight, warming a seat on the team bus…or neither, I can’t see him even making the bench.
I know KK and SBR would have looked after our moody, enigmatic French potential match winner and not banished him to the sidelines.
So, what sort of team will we see tonight….err how about a losing one, so why am I still inclined to put a £10 win bet on at 14/1 to see us win!
No doubt an improvement is possible simply because Alan Pardew is back on the touchline, and who is he up against, none other than his old nemesis Arsene Wenger, let us hope for some fireworks as I think we would all like to have nutted Arsene at some point over the last 18 years or so, and let’s face it, it’s about all Pardew is good for because his management skills are somewhat diminished these days (In the eyes of many incl me).
A big hats off over the water to ‘The Heed’ , and a big good luck to them in their play-off games this week, if you can get along then go for it.
