Shola Ameobi Set For New Contract Talks

It is reported this morning that Shola Ameobi contract talks are scheduled for the end of the season.

Yes, just when you thought it was safe to at least tick off Shola’s long awaited departure as one small sign of possible progress at the club, those hopes/expectations have been predictably shattered.

Even before Saturday’s earth shattering event of Ameobi actually scoring a goal (first in Premier League since 2012!!!), many of us feared that we wouldn’t see the end of him this summer and now both media reports and Shola’s own words look very likely to confirm that.

Shola;

“We will discuss everything about my future at the end of the season.

“I haven’t really thought about what might or mightn’t happen as yet because this is not the right moment.

“There is a lot going on at the minute and things are pretty tense.

“We have to make sure that we don’t let the season fizzle out, then one it is finished, that will be the time to get round a table and talk about the future.”

The Northern Echo are reporting that ‘senior figures’ at Newcastle United want Shola to stay, who exactly that means is anybody’s guess as I didn’t think we had any senior employees any more and not many of rate Alan Pardew in that bracket, certainly at least when it comes to transfers.

The writing has of course been on the wall with the club’s recent repeated mantra of ‘only one or two’ new players needed in the summer been heard from those allegedly in charge at St.James’ Park, with both new Managing Director and Pardew himself repeating Ashley’s script.

I can honestly say that if they give yet another contract to this idiot (Shola not Pardew!) then it will be the final straw for me, though to be honest I think I’d already ran out of my last few remaining straws anyway.

Yes, new contract for Shola will get those thousands of season ticket holders who are packing in, to think again, not!

As we reported at the weekend, the chances of Shola actually scoring a goal were so remote that most of us were too shocked to celebrate properly when it somehow ended up in the back of Swansea’s net. No more so than one fan who[intlink id=”42042″ type=”post”] pledged to have a Shola Tattoo i[/intlink]f such a miracle actually happened….
