Press Conference Called To Confirm Newcastle United Pre-Season Plans

Local press in New Zealand have reported that a press conference has been called for Wednesday morning which will confirm Newcastle United pre-season participation in a four team tournament down under.

There has been much speculation about the possibility but now a press conference is scheduled for Wednesday 11am (I make that 11pm Tuesday in the UK) at Wellington Phoenix’s Westpac stadium.

The local club are said to be announcing the participation of both West Ham and Newcastle United in the July pre-season event with a mystery fourth team to be added after A-League finalists Brisbane Roar turned down the opportunity.

Matches are reported to be likely to be played in Wellington, Dunedin and Auckland.

Newcastle United have of course already confirmed their participation in a [intlink id=”41664″ type=”post”]four team tournament hosted by Bundesliga club Schalke[/intlink], a welcome advance on the total shambles of recent pre-seasons.
