Pardew – The Newcastle v Cardiff Result ‘Affects Our Build For The Summer’

Speaking ahead of the match and the Newcastle v Cardiff result, Alan Pardew has put a whole different spin on the game and made it sound like it is pivotal to the club’s short to medium term, possibly even long-term, future.

The Newcastle manager has claimed that the result of Saturday’s match ‘affects our build for the summer’.

While you can never be totally sure what Pardew is talking about much of the time, when speaking to NUFC TV he appears, at least to me, to be suggesting that the result could have repercussions with regard to strengthening the squad and what backing he would have from Ashley.

While for pretty much all of us we simply see a pointless (from Newcastle’s point of view) match which at best will restore a very small amount of pride, the manager and others inside St.James’ Park appear to be attaching way over the top importance to it.

Is the manager suggesting that if players impress in this one match then they could get a new contract, or not be sold, or is that top ten equals money to spend?

Alan Pardew;

“It’s as big a game for us as it is for Cardiff.

“It is important for us as it affects our mentality, it affects the feeling and it affects our build for the summer.

“And of course for Liverpool, because that’s a game we must not forget, we owe the league a performance and we owe ourselves it.”

Answers on a postcard as to exactly what you think Alan Pardew is referring to…
