It’s Official – Newcastle United New Zealand Tour Confirmed

We reported yesterday that a press conference was set for late Tuesday night (UK time) to confirm the [intlink id=”42354″ type=”post”]Newcastle United New Zealand pre-season tournament [/intlink]down under.

That press conference took place at Wellington Phoenix’s Westpac Stadium as scheduled at 11am on Wednesday morning (NZ time) and it is now officially confirmed, Newcastle United will take part in a four team event in New Zealand this summer.

The Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin will host Newcastle United v Sydney FC on Tuesday 22nd July kick-off 7.30pm (NZ time).

Then on 26th July with kick-off TBC, Newcastle United will play Wellington Phoenix at the Westpac Stadium.

West Ham are the other club involved and they will face the two ‘local’ clubs in the other fixtures.

Wellington’s Mayor, Celia Wade-Brown;

“Our stadium’s location is ideally suited to a big match and the beautiful game will be full celebrated in a football festival for everybody.

“This spectacular event will draw football fans for around the country and across the Tasman.”
