Newcastle United Forced To Plan For Mathieu Debuchy Leaving
There has been repeated speculation of clubs targeting Mathieu Debuchy and now it has been reported that Newcastle United are aware of interest in the right-back for a potential summer move, with PSG one of those said to be interested..
It would be a crushing blow to supporters who have seen the player recover from a poor to average start, to then transform himself into a fans’ favourite who looks the player we’d all heard so much about.
The Northern Echo are saying they understand Graham Carr has been asked to identify potential replacements, and with the plan of playing Mapou out of position as cover looking worse by the minute, arguably United should be aiming to start next season with at least two players who can play comfortably there.
One player who has been linked in recent days is the Toulouse right-back, Serge Aurier. He is only 21 but has been part of the Ivory Coast’s team along with Cheick Tiote that qualified for the World Cup.
With five goals from full-back and ten yellow cards this season, Aurier sounds a similar all action player to Debuchy, but if our current right-back did leave then there is believed to be plenty of action from elsewhere in the Ivory Coast defender.
Moussa Sissoko will of course know all about him having played together at Toulouse.
